Why I am Running for Congress

Illegal immigration is simply out of control. As of last year, more than 10 MILLION illegal aliens crossed into our country. This invasion of our country is unacceptable, yet our so-called “leaders” in Washington can’t get their act together. But my plan to Secure the Border changes all that.

I’m running for Congress because Washington, DC is broken. Our Republican majority in Congress is hanging on by a thread at the most critical time in our history. Joe Biden and his Administration are out of control. Their solution to our problems is always more government spending, more giveaways to political supporters, attacking our institutions and allowing our country to be invaded by illegal aliens.

Meanwhile, some Republicans in Congress are more interested in building a social media following, and making a name for and enriching themselves, rather than looking for solutions to the complex issues our country faces.

That’s not me. During my time in the Arizona legislature, I worked with an ideologically divided caucus of Republicans, brought them together and got landmark legislation passed.

Because of my efforts, conservative legislation like the flat tax and universal ESAs (school choice) was passed and signed into law. I haven’t sought the limelight for these extraordinary accomplishments because to me, it’s more important to do the right thing, to actually solve problems and get meaningful legislation passed.

In Congress, I’ll take that same approach. We have Republican Members of Congress who don’t see eye to eye on every single issue. That’s okay. But instead of fighting amongst ourselves, we should fight the radical Left and their agenda, which is destroying our country. I have a proven track record of providing the type of leadership needed to get things fixed.

Biography

Ben Toma’s family immigrated to the United States through the legal immigration process when he was just a small boy. Originally from Romania, his parents fled the dangers of communism and after overcoming difficult obstacles found freedom and the opportunity to build a new life in the United States of America.

Ben is a small business owner and real estate broker who served on the Peoria City Council and was appointed to the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2017. In 2018, Ben was elected to the Arizona State House of Representatives and was quickly elevated to leadership roles by his peers. In the legislature, Ben authored and passed two landmark pieces of conservative legislation that were previously thought “impossible” by both supporters and opponents.

Ben’s first remarkable accomplishment was the historic “flat tax” law which brought much needed economic relief to working families and small businesses; to date, this is the single largest tax cut in Arizona’s history.

His second achievement was passing the universal Empowerment Scholarship Accounts. Named the “biggest school choice victory in U.S. history,” this legislation allows and supports parents in making the best decisions for their children’s education.

In 2023, Ben Toma was elected as Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives.
